Program Note

Short stories, like Art Songs and many chamber music creations, create an entire world within a small frame. The first sentence of a short story puts the reader instantly into a unique place and time. The title of each movement is the opening words of an imagined short story. I invite listeners to finish the tale in their own imaginations as the music unfolds.
